A suspect in the recent rash of car burglaries in Wichita Falls is in custody.
Stacey Stouard, Jr., 19, was arrested Tuesday at Market Street on Kell Boulevard after someone reported seeing a man passed out in his car.
When an officer arrived police said Stouard had a handgun with him — a gun that would later be reported stolen from a car on Berwick Drive.
Police have been investigating 45 vehicle burglaries reported within the last three weeks, in which 12 firearms were stolen.
Several of the burglaries were reported along Southwest Parkway, and few — if any — of the vehicles were locked.
Police believe Stouard is linked to some of these burglaries.
According to Stouard’s arrest affidavit, police said he admitted to having stolen firearms inside his apartment. After executing a search warrant, officers reported finding multiple stolen items.
Stouard has a previous burglary of a vehicle conviction in 2017. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.
