Closing arguments will be made Wednesday in the jury trial of a man who has pending charges for two murders but is now on trial only for a previous forgery charge.

The defense and prosecution closed their cases in the trial of Jermar Fuller in 30th District Court Tuesday.

Fuller is charged with capital murder for the shooting deaths of Sammy Rankin and David Phillips in a house on North 3rd Street on Oct. 10, 2016.

Fuller was arrested in the Texas panhandle after he crashed in a chase with Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers.

While the murder charges have not gone to trial, Fuller is being tried for a forgery involving his alleged use of fake bills to pay for a motel room in 2016, before he allegedly committed the murders.
