Many people made their way to Lucy Park to take part in this year’s Texoma’s Hellacious Obstacle Run on Saturday morning. Despite the cold temperatures, a lot of people still decided to run the obstacle course.
Organizers said they were worried the cold may keep people away, and while it may have kept a few at home, a lot of the 1,350 people who registered did compete.
The money raised from THOR goes to two local nonprofit organizations, which is what makes doing this even in the cold, worth it.
“It’s awesome. My husband and I have been on this committee for so long, and we just love stuff like this,” THOR organizer Vicki Boyle said. “It’s all volunteer. Every year it is a lot of work that goes into this but seeing the turnout and seeing the energy from these participants is what makes it go year to year.”
Boyle said she isn’t sure exactly how much money was raised this year yet, it is about $50,000 which will be split between the two organizations.
