Showing his support at the retirement ceremony for Officer Brad Love on Friday, a special four-legged, comfort friend.

Elijah is a Golden Retriever and is the first comfort dog to get the law enforcement vest, allowing him the opportunity to work with law enforcement in the United States.

Elijah was purchased 8 months ago through a program at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls.

He’s had over 2,000 hours of training, learning how to comfort people.

“We have been around the country with different scenarios, Sutherland Springs, the flood down in Houston. Taking the dog down there to give comfort to people in need of comfort, when they’re hurting and need help,” Eddie Carlton, LCC K-9 Police Ministry Handler, said.

Carlton is a retired Wichita Falls Police Officer and said he jumped at the chance to be able to do something for his brothers and sisters in blue.
