A Wichita Falls couple has been charged in connection with an alleged child endangerment and abandonment case in 2017.

30-year-old Justin Gilbert and 30-year-old Annette Storms were booked into Jail Tuesday with bonds set at $5,000.

On March 23, 2017, Wichita Falls Police Sergeant John Spragins reported he was in the 4100 block of Call Field road about 2 p.m when he saw several vehicles stopped and people waving him down.

He stopped and a woman told him she had to stop quickly because a toddler was in the middle of the road. Spragins said he contacted the parents, identified as Gilbert and Storms, and they told him they had left the 2-year-old boy with their roommate.

Another officer spoke to the roommate and said the roommate told him he was at work at the time and had never cared for the boy.

Officers spoke to Gilbert and Storms again, and say they admitted they had left the sleeping boy home alone.

Spragins measured the distance from the home to where the toddler was in the road, and it was about 200 feet and estimated the boy had been out of the home 10 to 15 minutes.
