Couple indicted on child endangerment case

Local News

Annette Storms and Justin Glbert are indicted for abandonment and endangerment of a child.

On March 23, 2017, Wichita Falls police Sgt. John Spragins said he was in the 4100 block of Call Field about 2 p.m. when he saw several vehicles stopped and people waving him down.

As he stopped, a woman told him a toddler was in the middle of the road.

Spragins contacted the parents later identified as Gilbert and Storms who told him they left the 2-year-boy with their roommate. However, the roommate told officers he was at work at the time and never watched the boy.

Officers said Gilbert and Storms admitted to leaving the sleeping boy home alone.

Spragins measured the distance from the home to where the toddler was in the road, and it was about 200 feet.

It was estimated the boy had been out of the home for about 10 to 15 minutes.
