D-UP founders host community BBQ

Local News

In hopes of bringing the community together, members from one organization focused on diversity, unity and peace will host their Community BBQ event on Saturday.

Isaiah Eugene helped start the D-UP organization and said it was because of many influences in his life as well as seeing the diversity first-hand in Wichita Falls. D-UP stands for diversity, unity and peace.

Eugene said a lot of planning went into making this barbecue happen.

“I started planning in January, so that will be four months out,” Eugene said. “It’s a long process to plan but to actually get the stuff and make reservations, pay for stuff it doesn’t really take that long. But us actually getting a plan of a community event and getting people out and advertising it that took a little while.”

The Community BBQ will be Saturday from noon-4 p.m. at Bridwell Park.

It is free for anyone to attend. If you’d like to participate in the BBQ cook-off, it is $5.
