A Bowie man barely escaped a fire that destroyed his mobile home Monday afternoon.

It happened on Maple Road in Frontier Shores and the Bowie Rural Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene.

According to the family, Bruce Barker, 64, was awoken by his dog when his single-wide mobile home was full of smoke.

Barker then managed to get out just in time because moments later his home and two vehicles went up in flames.

Everything in the house was destroyed leaving Barker with nothing.

The 21-year-old resident is also battling congestive heart failure.

To help Barker, the family has set up a GoFundMe account and is asking for donations, click here for the link.
