The official plea and sentencing for a Newcastle man is expected on July 2 after a truck accident claimed the life of a mother from Graham last summer.
On August 10, Kelsi Johnson Messick, 31, was hit by a truck while in her parked car outside a store in Newcastle.
Messick was a hospice RN, and she’d stopped for a bottle of water on her way home to Graham after helping the family of one of her patients in Olney’s emergency room.
Troopers said the accident happened when Michael Ray Eversole’s truck swerved over as he was driving west on Highway 380.
Eversole was later indicted for criminal negligent homicide.
We’re still waiting on confirmation from the Young County District Attorney on what happened in Tuesday’s pretrial hearing.
Messick’s mother said the two attorneys and Eversole agreed on possible probation.
