Wichita Falls police are remembering a fallen officer, struck down 60 years ago Tuesday.
On November 27, 1958, officer Russell Scott was directing traffic at an accident at Hampstead and Milby.
Another car entered the intersection at a high rate of speed and hit a truck, which then struck officer Scott, knocking him 54 feet. Officer Scott was pronounced dead the next day. The driver of the car that hit the truck was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $25.
Officer Scott had been with the department for only 11 months, and left behind a wife.
