Final defendant in bizarre kidnapping, torture case sentenced

Local News

The final defendant in a bizarre kidnapping and torture case at a Wichita Falls motel has been sentenced.

Joel Patterson, 33, pleaded guilty in 78th District Court and received 15 years in prison for aggravated kidnapping.

In September 2017 police said a woman was taken by Patterson to a room in the motel and held against her will.

The victim told police Patterson accused her of being a police snitch.

Her version of the events was confirmed by the other two defendants who were in the room.
She was blindfolded and her hands were bound with zip ties, and she said Patterson ordered her to be beaten and kicked.

Then she said Patterson shaved her head and said they were going to kill her and feed her to the hogs and that hogs would not eat hair.

Finally, Patterson told her he was committing suicide and injected himself with some substance and released the victim.

Police said when they interviewed the victim her face was so swollen she could barely talk.
The other two defendants, Anita Allen, 52,  and Ricky Lira Junior, 26, pleaded earlier this year.
