NBC 5 News- A suspected drunken driver crashed into a Fort Worth fire truck Sunday night, sending the 44,000-pound vehicle spinning around, the fire department says.

The Fort Worth Fire Department tweeted about the crash Monday and reminded drivers that when they drink and drive, “it is more than just you that is in danger.”

Firefighters on board the truck were responding to a medical call when they were hit by the small pickup. Officials said the impact spun the fire engine around, but that everyone was able to walk away from the crash without serious injury.

The Fire Department tweeted several photographs of equipment damaged in the crash, as well as photographs of the extensively damaged engine. Officials have not said when they expect the engine to be repaired and available for use.

With their vehicle knocked out service, the fire department said a different engine had to be dispatched to respond to the medical emergency.

Officials with the fire department said the driver is expected to be charged with driving while intoxicated.
