The very first girl to register for Cub Scouts in the Northwest Texas Council was given her bobcat award Thursday night.

Lorelei Mitchell, 2 other girls and several other scouts earned their very first badge at a special ceremony at Floral Heights United Methodist Church 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Scouts first started allowing girls to join the program back in August.

She is excited about all that the program has to offer.

“The fact that I can become an Eagle Scout, like my father, and his uncles, and his fathers, and everyone else before me,” Mitchell said.

As part of the ceremony, the Scouts also said a big thank you to Amy Parker who served as the Cubmaster for the last three years and Mike Mitchell, Lorelei’s dad, as the new Pack 1 Leader.
