First Step’s Rock Against Violence

Local News
You still have an opportunity to help an organization that cares for and houses victims of domestic violence.

Today,  First Step held its 7th annual Rock Against Violence fundraiser at the Hastings parking lot.

Several local bands were there, and there were also other fun activities, like face painting, caricature drawings, and balloon animals.

Food, donated by Butcher’s Meats, was also sold at the event, with money made from that being matched by Modern Woodmen.

Victoria Thompson/ Shelter Aid:  “We are raising the money to help First Step, the shelter for women and abused children.  It goes back into the shelter, whatever money we make today.”

First Step Incorporated aids in housing those who’ve been victims of domestic violence, and with helping them feel safe.

Also, with helping them find jobs.

Thompson says the organization has had over 30,000 clients in Wichita Falls since 1977,  and was hoping to raise over $5,000 from this event.

If you could not make it out there today, and you’d still like to support the work that First Step does, just call 940-723-7799.
