Fmr. Olney Interim PD Chief faces new sex assault charges

Local News

The list of charges against Olney’s former Interim Police Chief keeps growing following his arrest in March when Robert Cross, 34, was accused of asking a woman to be his “chore slave.”

Cross was charged in Young County following a Texas Rangers investigation.

According to Cross’ arrest affidavit, a woman said Cross asked her to be his “chore slave” and he would need to see some photos of her private area.

The complaint states these actions constitute official oppression by a law officer.

After posting bond, Cross resigned as Olney’s interim Police Chief and Fire Marshal.

New charges filed against former interim Olney police chief Robert Cross allege he forced two men to perform oral sex on each other at gunpoint, in the back seat of his truck.

Cross has three new charges, two in Young County for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one in Wichita County for sexual assault.

According to the two warrants filed by a Texas Ranger in Young County, on December 20 last year, Cross, then-interim police chief in Olney,  took two people to eat and to the movies in Wichita Falls.

The warrants allege after the movie on the way back to Olney in his truck, Cross pulled out a gun and pointed it the two and forced them to get in the back seat and perform oral sex on each other.

Cross was previously charged in Young county with official oppression in connection with making alleged lewd comments and requests to a woman, and he resigned after the charges were filed by the Texas Ranger.

In December 2017, Cross cross received a Medal of Valor for his reported bravery in trying to save an elderly woman from a burning building while he worked at the Pelican Bay Police Department.

Cross was also praised by residents for his efforts to stop child pornography and other crime in Olney.
