Food Truck Championships hit Graham

Local News

More than 50 food trucks made their way to Graham today for the 4th annual food truck championship of Texas. Throughout the day hundreds and hundreds of people made their way to the downtown square in Graham. Some of those visitors came from a long way. Adrianna Payton lives in New Hampshire and was visiting family nearby. She said she was happy to see so many different options.
“It’s wild. It’s also really hot. It’s not like this in New Hampshire at all,” Payton said. “There’s a lot of different diversity and I wasn’t expecting that, so that has been really nice to see. I would say the beignets. I’ve been to Louisiana before and had them before, so it’s nice to see that here. As well as the lobster from Maine. That’s pretty cool. I didn’t expect that either.”
Many of the food trucks had a trip to make to attend the festival. Rolling-Stone food truck came from ft worth. It’s the second time they have come.
“These big events are our favorite,” said Toni Stone who owns Rolling-Stone with her husband. “Just to be out with all the people from all over, the different trucks. Try all the food of course. The food truck community is pretty cool, everyone is friends. We all help each other out, so it is really cool to have a food truck.”
This is Sully’s Magic Kitchen, from Arlington, has not been operating for long but it is run by a long-time chef
“My husband has been a chef for 32 years,” said Ruth Sullivan, co-owner of Sully’s Magic Kitchen. “We kind of got out of the rat race and decided to do our own thing. I love to cook and entertain, so we just kind of made our dream come true.”
And Sullivan says they are enjoying their first trip to graham
“Graham is amazing. It’s a great place,” Sullivan said. “The city square is fantastic. I have to give kudos to the people who organized this, Jenea Knight. She was able to get us in and out easily, well out we haven’t done yet, so in for sure. They are top notch at organizing.”
With a huge turnout and a wide variety of food trucks making it worth the trip from a long distance, the food truck championships should continue to bring people to graham for years to come
