A former Montague county banker suspected of hundreds of sexual assaults of at least two boys back in the 1990’s has now been indicted in connection with those cases,  as he nears release from prison on illegal firearms charges.

56-year-old Ricky Dale Howard has been in the Hamilton unit in Bryan since June of 2016 serving 5 years on 11 counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and could be released on parole soon.

Once he is released, he will be transferred to the Montague County jail to await trial on the sexual assault and indecency cases. Howard pleaded guilty to the 11- counts of the gun charges after his arrest on the sexual assault and indecency charges in the two separate cases from the late 90s.

He now has two counts of sexual assault of a child, two counts of indecency with a child and 34 counts of possession of child pornography in Montague county.

He was arrested for the sexual assaults while authorities were investigating the disappearance of 18-year-old Caleb Diehl who police say worked part-time for Howard. Diehl disappeared in late March 2015.

During that investigation, two men came forward with allegations of sexual assaults when they were 12 and 13 and were hunting with or working for Howard.

According to police Diehl borrowed a truck from Howard just before his disappearance. The truck turned up at Howard’s property a few days later.
