Former daycare owner sentenced in the death of an infant

Local News

A former Wichita falls home daycare owner is sentenced Friday for the death of an 11-month-old infant at her daycare in late 2014.

Ashley Calloway, 32, pleaded guilty to injury to a child with reckless bodily injury in the 30th District Court and was sentenced to 10 years prison but suspended to four years probation and 90 days in jail.

Calloway had originally been charged with injury to a child resulting in death and was arrested six months later in Port Arthur, but the grand jury declined an indictment on that charge.

In 2017, Calloway was apparently reindicted for injury to a child with reckless injury. Investigators said 11-months-old Analyse Wise died from non-accidental head trauma three days after the injury at Creative Corner daycare in the 4500 block of Westridge.
