More than a month after his unexpected resignation, the former pastor of a Wichita Falls catholic church is now breaking his silence.
Monday morning on his public Facebook page, Rev. Jeff Poirot addressed Sacred Heart parishioners in a post that stated: ” I am sorry I was not able to say “goodbye” to you in person, but please know your prayers and kind words to me have meant a great deal.”
The post comes two days after Bishop Michael Olson posted a statement and video of his own on the Diocese of Fort Worth website. In it, the bishop addresses several decisions he’s made, causing upset among some Catholics, including Poirot’s resignation, as well as that of Rev. Gary Picou.
“They have made their decisions on their own and after their own discernment, in no way connected to my decision,” Bishop Olson said.
Also speaking on this is another former pastor of Sacred Heart: Father Jack McKone, now pastor at St. John the Apostle in North Richland Hills.
