Local News

Former Wichita Falls Pastor Robert Jeffress delivered blessings Monday at the opening ceremony to relocate the United States embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

The move to open the nation’s new embassy is sparking deadly protests along the Gaza border.

During his prayer, Jeffress complimented the United States ambassador to Israel and praised President Trump’s leadership

“As we come to dedicate this embassy in the city of Jerusalem, the city that you named the capital of Israel three years ago, we want to thank you for the tremendous leadership of our great President Donald J. Trump,” Jeffress said. “Without President Trump’s determination, resolve, courage, we would not be here today.”

Jeffress’ role in the ceremony was criticized by many including, Mitt Romney, who called the pastor a bigot for his record of remarks slamming other faiths.
