Frederick High School music teacher Carisa Schreiner has been awarded the 2019 State Superintendent’s Arts Excellence Award in music.
Schreiner has taught in Frederick for 23 years and 22 of those years at the high school. She teaches grades third through 12th grade, in general music and choir.
Being the only Tillman County school with a music program, Schreiner believes getting the award is due to what teachers have to do all the time.
“I’ve been creative in coming up with ways that a little place like Frederick can have some experiences that a big school would have,” Schreiner said.
Schreiner, along with fellow educators, will be honored at ceremony at Scottish Rite Temple in Guthrie on April 23.
