Jump school students are preparing to grab their gear and hit the air to demonstrate their parachuting skills at the Frederick Army Air Field on Saturday.
The Frederick Regional Airport has been hosting Open Hangar Day for nearly ten years.
The public is encouraged to attend and learn all there is to know about the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team.
In addition to jumping, students and their instructors from the winter jump school will be around to show off their equipment and answer questions about the team.
“We get to teach people about this period of American history and what the men that were involved in it did and the sacrifices they made,” David Brothers, honorary Col. of the air wing, said.
Each year, Open Hanger Day concludes with a ceremony to recognize the jump school students by giving them their wings.
Open Hangar Day is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 23rd at the Frederick Army Airfield section of the Frederick Regional Airport.
There will be displays and you can even arrange to ride in the plane with the jumpers.
The jumping will begin right at 8 a.m.
