WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Gov. Greg Abbott, R–Texas, joined Melanie Townsend to discuss recent events throughout the state and nation.

So in a recent press conference, you spoke passionately about what happened to George Floyd and how we have to make sure it never happens in Texas. What are you doing now with state lawmakers to address police violence against the black community?

We know several more protests are planned this week, and of course, the funeral for George Floyd will be next Monday in his hometown of Houston. Do you plan on being there for that?

President Donald Trump vowed to designate Antifa as a terrorist group in the wake of violent protests, what is your stance on that?

Do you think we’ll see an uptick in COVID-19 cases now that hundreds of people have come together during these protests?

What’s next in Phase III of your reopening plan for Texas?

What is your message to Texans who are angry, frustrated and are protesting against the longstanding history of discrimination and police brutality in this country?
