A bill in honor of late Wichita Falls teen Lauren Landavazo is expected to be signed by the governor next week.
According to the staff of State Sen. Pat Fallon, Gov. Greg Abbott plans to sign Senate Bill 719 on Tuesday, June 11.
Lauren’s parents are also expected to be in attendance.
Fallon and State Rep. James Frank wrote companion bills in Lauren’s honor.
When signed by Abbott, Lauren’s Law will change the capital murder laws in Texas making it to where prosecutors can seek a life without parole sentence for anyone who murders a child between the ages of 10- and 15-years-old.
