With the Graham Drive-In kicking off the spring season this weekend, lots of work goes into prepping for family and friends to enjoy the shows.
While Drive-In movies have been a way to watch movies since its conception in the 1930s, not many people know how the show is put on.
In 1948 motorists parked their cars on the lot of the Graham Drive-In movie theater. Ever since then, Texomans have had a place to enjoy movies from the comfort of their car. Pam and Dave Scott now own the Graham Drive-In Theater, and Pam Scott said there’s a lot that goes into making these things operational.
“It starts at the beginning of the week we book the film. We do all of your signage, your marketing, and then as it gets closer to time when you start doing all of your stockings and prepping. You open your doors to your customers and serve them and show a great film on screen,” Pam Scott said.
Back in 2018, after 13 years of running the Drive-In theater, they decided to put the store up for sale.
“We decided that we’ve been in the business for a long time and we just needed to interject some new blood and new energy, new ideas into the business and give us more time to concentrate on our other businesses,” Pam Scott said.
Pam Scott said she is going to miss running the Drive-In but they will be back on a regular basis.
“There’s always some great memories that you have with anything that you leave behind, but fortunately, it’s just right down the road from us and we hope to be great patrons of the drive-in for as long as we can,” Pam Scott said.
Until that time, Pam Scott will keep doing her part to make sure the show goes on.
