A high-speed chase involving four agencies that began near Henrietta, ends up later on Henrietta Street in Wichita Falls.
Around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon Clay County deputies were trying to stop a car for speeding.
Authorities say 32-year-old Joseph Howser reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, during the chase.
They say the chase started on Highway 287 and U.S. 82 where Clay County deputies say they saw Howser throw multiple objects, later identified as beer cans, from the vehicle.
As they came into Wichita Falls, the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, Wichita Falls Police and State Troopers joined the chase.
They say the driver left Kell Freeway and began speeding through several side streets until they finally got him stopped at Henrietta and Mill Streets.
Wichita County Sheriff David Duke says Hoswer took off on foot at Henrietta and Mill Streets in Wichita Falls.
Sheriff Duke says when he tried to block him with his SUV, Howser climbed up and over his vehicle.
Authorities had to tackle and tase Howser before he was arrested.
“I don’t think he expected many units to convert on him as quickly as they did which is good for the community’s safety because if it had run into the Scott Street down here at Kell, running about 60 to 70 miles, there could’ve been a catastrophe collision and fortunately that was avoided,” Sheriff David Duke said.
Howser is in the Clay County jail charged with evading arrest and resisting arrest and he could be facing additional charges in Wichita County.
He also has an arrest warrant out of Collin County for harassment.
