Daniel Arredondo, one of the two employees injured last weekend at the River Road Wastewater Treatment Plant, has died.

Arredondo was pronounced dead at 11:57 Sunday morning.

He was a member of the Wastewater Collections and Wastewater Treatment Division for one and a half years.

The incident happed last Saturday when two employees were exposed to a gas at the treatment facility. Firefighters arrived at the plant that evening to find two employees in the basement, semi conscious, apparently from exposure to a gas.

Both workers were taken to United Regional Hospital initially and then transferred to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

From Daniel Nix, City of Wichita Falls Utilities Operations Manager, “One of the two employees who were injured in an incident at the River Road Wastewater Treatment Plant has passed away. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and co-worker, Daniel Arredondo, who was pronounced dead at 11:57am this morning.

He was a joy to be around with his friendly and loving personality. We send our prayers and thoughts to his family and hope for their comfort during this time.”
