Family members have confirmed that the seven-year-old boy, who nearly-drowned in Lake Iowa Park, has died.

The grandmother of Michael Ondricek said the boy was taken off life support Thursday night. She said Ondricek will have his tissues donated in hopes of saving a life.

Iowa Park police officers responded to Lake Iowa Park, also known as Middle Lake, Tuesday around 7:30 pm. According to investigators, a group of teens found Ondricek floating near the boat ramp. Authorities said one of the teen’s dove in to get him out and a 17-year-old girl performed CPR until EMT’s arrived.

Ondricek was initially transported to United Regional and then to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth where he was put on a ventilator.

His grandmother describes him as a kind boy, who loved swimming and playing on his bicycle with his cousins.
