The man accused of shooting and killing Lauren Landavazo will not face trial in Wichita Falls and could be in court right at two years after her death.
In Sept. 2016, Wichita Falls Police say Kody Lott admitted to killing Landavazo and shooting Makayla Smith while they were walking home from school.
In Public Defender James Rasmussen’s motion to move the trial he stated a fair and impartial jury couldn’t be seated here because of extensive media coverage.
District Attorney Maureen Shelton said at the time she did not oppose a change of venue.
Shelton told us last week she will be taking lead on prosecuting the case that is set to go to trial in Sept. in Fort Worth.
Shelton has said a plea bargain will not be an option.
