Man accused of sexually assaulting mentally disabled man since childhood

IOWA PARK (KFDX/KJTL) - An Iowa Park man is accused of sexually assaulting a 26-year-old mentally challenged man beginning when the victim was about 13.

David Sims, 54, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a disabled person.

Police officers said the alleged assaults came to light when the man's father was arrested and asked his cousin, Sims, to pick up his son.

Officers said when the father got of jail, his son told him about the assault.

Police began interviewing the victim and said he told them the first assault happened when he was about 13-years-old and it continued until he was 16 when they moved away.

The victim said the assaults resumed when they moved back.
