Wichita Falls police officer said a man threatened to kill officers and paramedics if he did not get a cigarette right away.
Robert Weldon Neel, 44, is charged with two counts of retaliation by threat and one count of resisting arrest.
Police and paramedics responded to a disturbance and report of a man with a head injury at an apartment on Jo Ann Drive.
When they arrived, officials saw several women in the apartment and one of them yelled for officers to come in.
Police officers said Neel started cussing at them before they even asked a question and when they asked if he needed medical attention, he said he would kill both officers, then said he wanted a cigarette and if he didn’t get one, he would kill them.
Paramedics then came in and a police officer said Neel pointed at each officer and paramedic and made a threat against each of them, then tried to slap one of the paramedics.
That’s when officers got in a brief struggle with Neel and got him handcuffed.
They say during the struggle, Neel continued his threats to kill them.
