An Electra man with a long record, including evading arrest, has a new evading charge.
Joseph Depriest, 32, was charged with evading Wichita Falls police Tuesday evening.
Officers said they spotted Depriest getting into a car and driving off near Old Iowa Park Road and Central Freeway.
Authorities said they knew Depriest did not have a valid license, so they followed him and made a stop near 32nd Street and Jacksboro Highway.
As an officer walked up to Depriest’s car window, officers said Depriest took off in the car, heading north on Jacksboro Highway and then east on 31st Street.
Officers said Depriest went south on Bluff Street at a high rate of speed and officers broke off the chase.
The car was later spotted in the middle of the road on 38th Street with front-end damage.
Officers then found Depriest walking less than a mile away and he was arrested.
Depriest has numerous previous convictions, including two for theft, burglary, drugs, car theft and in 2006 he and his fiance were charged with for counterfeiting.
Federal authorities allege they used a printer and scanner to make fake bills and another woman helped pass them at businesses.
