Man back in jail after serving 18-years sentence for multiple charges

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) - A man who recently got out of prison after serving an 18-year sentence for robbery and assault of an elderly woman, who was arrested last month for allegedly stealing vehicles, is in jail again.

Dustin Ray Nails, 32, was booked early Tuesday morning on a charge of theft of a motor vehicle or articles from a motor vehicle.

Nails posted a $50,000 bond after his arrest about three weeks ago after a high-speed chase and search.

Patterson Honda reported the theft of a Honda SUV on Nov. 9.

That same day a tip through Crime Stoppers reported nails stole two vehicles from Patterson's and was driving one of them.

Police officers said they spotted a man with tattoos driving a stolen Chevy Impala around Van Buren and Seymour Highway.

The driver did not stop and police chased it through several streets before calling off the chase.
Officers searched houses in the area where the car was later found abandoned.

The other vehicle, a Honda, was found at a fast food restaurant on Holliday.

Fingerprints were recovered from both vehicles, and police also obtained video surveillance from Patterson's and the restaurant, where Nails was later identified.

In 2005, Nails was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the robbery and beating of an elderly woman, after police say he broke into her home on westerly, assaulted her and stole money and her car.

Records show Nails was released from prison a few months ago.
