A Henrietta man facing is a slew of charges after Wichita County Sheriff’s officials said he hit a woman who was driving, then drove off in her car and rammed another person’s vehicle.
Authorities said the person Dustin Mitchell hit had stopped to render aid.
Mitchell is charged with driving while intoxicated, assault family violence, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, evading arrest and resisting an arrest search.
According to the arrest affidavit, deputies said Mitchell was riding with a woman when she said he started assaulting her by hitting her in the forehead with his fist.
The woman said she then got out of the car and authorities said that is when Mitchell got in the driver’s seat and rammed a car of a man who had stopped to render aid twice.
The woman claimed when Mitchell saw authorities lights he sped off and the deputy said he saw Mitchell driving away and sparks were flying from the vehicle.
The woman told the deputy Mitchell was drunk and had wrecked the car.
The deputy said he had to tell Mitchell, who he said he could smell alcohol on, several times to get on the ground.
Then the deputy said when he was trying to perform a breath test Mitchell kept pulling the mouthpiece of the breathalyzer off.
Mitchel was booked into the Wichita County Jail, his bonds total more than $30,000.
