A man has now been arrested in two cases of vandalism to the United Regional MRI machine back in December 2018.

Weldon Whitfield, 38, of Trinidad, Colorado, is charged with criminal mischief over $2,500 and under $30,000. His bond was set at $8,000.

Police officers were sent to the hospital on Dec. 22 about a man who had been turning off the power supply to the MRI trailer.

Hospital security said the man had shut the power off on two succeeding days, causing loss of revenue and damage to the circuit board of the machine of around $3,000.

Video surveillance showed on Dec. 20 around 2:50 p.m. a man identified as Whitfield walked up to the trailer and to the circuit breaker on the wall and turned it off.

Video also showed the same action by the same person with the same clothes doing it again the next day a little before 5 p.m.

Police officers talked to a woman in a house where Whitfield was staying but said the woman told them she bought him a bus ticket to Trinidad and he left on Dec. 29.
