The man accused of the murder of Wichita Falls High School student Yajaira Garcia last month is trying to get his bond lowered.
Joshua Cook, 19, was in 89th District Court Thursday afternoon for a bond reduction motion.
Cook’s bond was set at $750,000 on the murder charge and $100,000 for an alleged burglary, in which investigators said the murder weapon was stolen.
His bond had initially been set at $100,000 for the murder charge but was raised after an outcry from family and friends.
Deputies said when they arrived at the shooting scene on Hammon Ranch Road on Nov. 3, Cook was kneeling over Garcia’s body with the gun in his hand and told them he had done it.
