A Wichita Falls man is behind bars with multiple charges following an incident with a gun that sent two police officers to the hospital.
About 8 p.m. Wednesday, Wichita Falls Police responded to a call about a man waving a gun on Lincoln and Corwin Street.
When officers found the man, they reportedly asked if he had a gun in his possession and tried to pat him down.
Police officers said they attempted to stop the suspect, Richard Lee Williams, 27, but were unsuccessful as he began to walk away.
Officers say they were able to grab Williams in front of the police cruiser but Williams continued to pull away and fight the officer.
According to authorities, after he tried to take a gun from the officer, they were able to get Williams on the ground.
Two officers on the scene said they did suffer cuts to the hand and head while trying to control Williams. The officers and Williams were both transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Williams was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, two charges of assault of public servant, resisting arrest and attempting to take a weapon from an officer.
At this time no bond has been set for Williams.
