Man indicted on agg. sexual assault of child, animal cruelty charges

Local News

A man accused of aggravated sexual assault involving his 8-month-old son, and also indecency with a child, retaliation and cruelty to animals, has been indicted on all but two counts of indecency.

Adam Hammond, 18, was arrested last March.

After his first three charges, the indecency charges were filed in November while he was in jail.

The baby’s mother said she heard her baby whimpering in the bathroom and found Hammond in the shower with the baby in an infant floor seat.

She said Hammond was committing a sex act in front of the child. She said she warned him not to do it again.

Police officers said the woman said after that incident, Hammond performed a sex act on the son and he told her he couldn’t help it.

She said when she tried to leave with the baby, Hammond said he would hurt her, their dogs and police officers.

Officers said she called a friend for help and Hammond began kicking the dogs.

When her friend arrived she said she got the baby and dogs and left.
