Man jailed after allegedly choking pregnant ex-girlfriend

Local News

A Wichita Falls man is jailed on four charges after police officers said he choked his pregnant ex-girlfriend twice—once because she wouldn’t give him money for marijuana and a second time while forcing her to withdraw money from an ATM.

Joshua Chavez, 19, was booked into jail with $13,000 in bonds.

Officers said on Monday the victim came to the police station and said she had been choked multiple times in the last hour.

She said she was eight weeks pregnant with Chavez’s child but was no longer dating him. She said they were in her car and he was upset because she wouldn’t give him money to buy marijuana, and she told him to get out of the car, but he refused and began choking her until she almost passed out.

Then she said Chavez made her drive around town to ATMs to withdraw money for him, and he once again became angry and started choking her again.

She stated she started to pass out and he released her. She said she got out and ran into a store where employees protected her from Chavez, who had followed her in.

Chavez was later arrested in a vacant house.
