Local News

Wichita Falls Police said a man threatened to kill officers and paramedics if he did not get a cigarette right away.

44-year-old Robert Weldon Neel is charged with two counts of retaliation by threat and one count of resisting arrest.

Police and paramedics responded to a disturbance and report of a man with a head injury at an apartment on Jo Ann Drive.

When officials arrived, they saw several women in the apartment and one of them yelled for officers to come in.

The officers said Neel started cussing at them before they even asked a question, and when officials asked if Neel needed medical attention he said he would kill both officers, then said he wanted a cigarette and if he didn’t get one, he would kill them.

Paramedics then came in and police said Neel pointed at each officer and paramedic and made a threat against each of them, then tried to slap one of the paramedics.

That’s when officers got in a brief struggle with Neel and got him handcuffed.
Officers said during the struggle, Neel continued his threats to kill them.
