A man wanted for repeated assaults and threats to his child’s mother in March has now been arrested. 28-year-old Johnny Barone is charged with assault– family violence and unauthorized use of a vehicle
Police responded to parkway villa apartments on Brookdale in March and found a woman bleeding from facial wounds. She told them she agreed to let Barone in so he could see their son but he went to sleep on the couch while she and her son played.
She said Barone woke up and began hitting her in the face with his fist and took her cell phone and the other phone from a charger so she could not call for help. She said he started yelling for her car keys as she tried to get into the kitchen to get some ice for her wounds and Barone ordered her and the boy into the bedroom while he went for the ice.
She said she attempted to open a window enough so that her son could get out but it made a lot of noise and Barone rushed in and threw her on the bed and began hitting her all over her body with his fist and elbow. She said he then left, taking her keys and cell phone.
The woman called the police and say Barone also called her from her cell phone warning her not to call the police. She ran to a neighbor’s house with her son to wait for police.
When they arrived, officers called for an ambulance to take the woman to the hospital. Police say they found broken pictures and blood in the apartment and they also saw a text message from Barone in which they say he admitted taking her car and telling her where he left it.
An arrest warrant was issued for Barone and he was booked into jail Tuesday.
