Man who bought teenager, in Wichita County Jail

Local News

A man who drew national attention when he was arrested and convicted in 2007 of buying an Archer County woman’s daughter was booked into the Wichita County Jail Tuesday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

46-year-old Jason Carlile is jailed on a sealed indictment, and the indictment was still sealed last time we checked, so details on that charge are not available.

His bond is set at $100,000.

Authorities said Carlile purchased the 15-year-old daughter of Tina Valdez in 2006 for $3,000.

Authorities said Valdez reported her daughter had run away to look for her father, which was a coverup, and sold her child because she needed money.

Valdez was convicted of selling a child and got three years in prison.

Carlile also got three years in prison for a Wichita County indecency with a child case filed before the purchase of a child case, and three years for the purchasing a child charge in Archer County.

Federal Marshals tracked the girl down in Mexico and arrested Carlile.
