Meals on Wheels volunteers serve dual purpose during hot summer months

Local News

While Texoma summer heat means days at the pool and summer vacations for many, others aren’t able to go for a dip or don’t have working air conditioning and could use someone to check on them.

One way to help is through Meals on Wheels and KFDX is proud to support it’s mission.
Meals on Wheels, out of The Kitchen in Wichita Falls, serves more than 800 meals daily.

Tuesday, Stacie Curtis from our sales team and weekend anchor Nicholas Quallich were delivering some meals to Wichita Falls residents, who told us how much Meals on Wheels means to them.

“It provides us with sustenance,” said Ron Sraw, a Meals on Wheels recipient.
“And it helps [my wife], because she’s the cook for the family. I can just boil water. That’s all,” said a Sraw laughing.

“It means a hundred percent,” said Richard Thomason. “Good hot meal. I carry a lot of canned goods and stuff, but that ain’t like this.”

If you would like to brighten the day of some of your fellow Texomans by delivering Meals on Wheels, you can either call The Kitchen or get in touch with them, by clicking here.
