A United Regional Health Care System spokesperson has given more information which clarifies where a fetus was found early Tuesday morning at the hospital.
While the hospital had said the fetus was found around in a linen cart in the laundry department. Police referred to the container as a trash can.
The hospital official clarified that an employee in the laundry department was separating soiled white linens out of plastic laundry bags from a linen cart and putting the bags and non-linen items into the trash container, and while putting them in the container he discovered the fetus and police were notified. Police say the body of what did not appear to be a fully developed child was transported for an autopsy.
The case is classified as a possible crime against a juvenile. They say there is not a suspect in this case. The hospital spokesperson says the hospital’s security department is assisting police in the investigation.
