One person is arrested after a late Saturday night shooting at a Wichita Falls apartment complex.

Wichita Falls police were called to the Highpoint Village Apartments off Professional Drive about 10:30 last night.

Sgt. Brett Hart said one of the officers was watching a suspicious car at the apartments.

The officer described it as a maroon Cadillac with three people inside.

The car spotted the officer and backed into the curb.

The officer said he initiated a traffic stop and asked if there was anything illegal in the car.

The officer said someone in the car said they had marijuana. He said then one of the people in the vehicle became verbally abusive causing the officer to call for back up.

A fight reportedly broke out between the officer and one of the vehicle occupants.

Hart said during the fight someone at a neighboring apartment fired several rounds.

The driver was arrested but the shooter has not been identified.
