MSU holds emergency training

Local News

The Midwestern State University police department is doing a bit of damage control after accidentally posting on social media there was a campus evacuation without saying it was just an exercise.

The post said this is an emergency and to evacuate the main campus.

It was later deleted but MSU Police Chief Patrick Coggins said this shows there are some things they still need to work on.

“In a situation like this, there is a lot of moving parts,” Coggins said. “There’s a lot of people involved and you are actually amping up the pressure on people to see how they perform under pressure and time situations. That’s where you start seeing where the short falls are and what can be improved on.”

The exercises started at 11 a.m.and lasted until 12:30 p.m.
