New business shakes up downtown

Local News

If you made a New Year’s resolution to become healthier, a new establishment downtown can help.
They serve healthy teas and shakes to revitalize the body and whip you back in shape, and the owner said with downtown growing like it has been over the past few years, she couldn’t have picked a better location.

Carrie Gardner is one of the newest tenants in the City National Building on the corner of 8th Street and Scott Ave.

Gardener said she created “Healthy’s Downtown” to bring a little something different to the community.

“Some people want to lose weight, some people need to maintain weight, some people are looking to put on some lean muscle and the products we serve are great for all of those things,” Gardner said.

Gardner is happy to dish out healthy smoothies and teas in the heart of downtown Wichita Falls, a place she recalled booming when she was a child.

“I’m old enough to remember when downtown was really busy, and actually as a very young child rode downtown on the trolley with my grandmother so I have those memories and I’m really excited to kind of see the boost of what’s going on down here. So its kind of like the last hoorah, I wanted to not miss that wave,” Gardner said.

Beyond not missing that wave, Gardner said it really is all about the location which is something that customer Camille Smith agrees with.

“It’s definitely going to be a good place for anyone downtown who can access a place like this, be able to come down when they need to. It’s a new location that is going to be very beneficial and convenient for a lot of people downtown,” Smith said.

Convenience, blended in with more dollars spent downtown, adding nutrition for your body and growth for our economy.
