The mural being painted at Lake Wichita by local artist Ralph Stearns is coming together.
Last week, we showed you the original spillway design covered over with white paint.
That was to make way for a much larger mural than the egret that months ago popped out of the blue.
Back in October, city officials unanimously voted “yes” and commissioned a fresh mural if the Lake Wichita Revitalization Committee could raise $13,000 in outside funds to purchase supplies for Stearns.
After the funds were met by private donors, Stearns was able to work on his masterpiece over the past week.
Stephen Garner, with the Lake Wichita Revitalization Committee, says the mural should be complete by next week.
