(NBC 5 News) Blue Bell Ice Cream officials issued a second recall amid Listeria concerns Monday night.

The Brenham company recalled 3-ounce vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ice cream cups with tab lids that potentially contain Listeria monocytogenes.

According to a news release issued by the company, the Kansas Department of Health & Environment reported a positive test for Listeria monocytogenes Wednesday on a chocolate cup at a hospital in Wichita. The cup was produced at an Oklahoma plant that does not distribute cups to convenience stores or supermarkets.

The recalled ice cream cups were several states, including Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.

There have been no reported illnesses to date.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections, especially in young children, elderly people and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Blue Bell officials urged consumers who purchased these items to return them. For more information, call 979-836-7977.
