A deputy with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office is recovering at United Regional, after the Sheriff says he accidentally shot himself.
Sheriff Kenny Lemons says the deputy was off- duty, and was getting into his personal vehicle, and when he put his belongings down on his personal gun the gun went off and shot him in the backside.
Sheriff Lemons did have this to say tonight, “Gun safety is a number one priority and that pertains to law enforcement as well, whether you are on duty or off.”
